The Importance of a Weekly at home facial: Using a facial Mask

Pictured here is a Rose Clay Facial Mask.

Kaolinite is a clay mineral.

My favorites clay is Kaolin (Kaolinite) in Rose and White. Kaolin Clay can be white, but depending upon where it comes from iron oxides can give it a darker hue. Depending upon the level of the iron oxides, that is what determines the color level.

A Clay Mask is good for drawing impurities out of the skin and should be used once a week.

Rose Clay is a gentle exfoliator, great for all skin types, even sensitive skin. It will draw impurities from the skin but will not strip the skin.

I also like French Green Clay which is an Illite clay and very gentle to the skin. Illite is a bio-mineral, containing trace minerals such as calcium, aluminum, magnesium, silica, phosphorous, copper and zinc and decomposed plant material.

Due to the mineral content in all these clays you can imagine how beneficial they are for your skin.

Environmental aggression such as pollution can be a major cause of unhealthy skin. This is one reason for the importance of a weekly at home facial,  applying a weekly clay mask along with all the other steps of a facial and proper (Natural) skincare will help to keep your skin healthy and looking younger longer.

 Clay can be mixed with a little distilled or purified water to create a paste. The consistency should look like that in the picture above! Not too thick and not too thin, creamy and easy to apply. I prefer applying mine with a mask brush. You can use a fan brush to paint it on. Some people prefer using their hands. To apply start at the neck and move up to the face, ending at the hairline, avoiding the eye area.

Here are the steps to a weekly at home facial;

1.Cleansing

2. Toning/Toner: Add toner to a cotton ball & swipe over the face & neck to complete the cleansing process, avoiding the eye area.

3. Exfoliation

4. Extractions

5. Mask/Masque

6. Toning/Toner: Helps to close pores & prepare the skin for moisturizing

7. Serums & Eye Cream

8. Hydrate; It is essential that we use a moisturizer to protect & hydrate the skin.

9. Lip Balm; Don't forget to keep your lips hydrated!
